Last updated: October 2026. This policy explains which cookies and similar technologies marswebsites.co.uk uses, and how to manage them.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies include local storage and tracking pixels.
Your choice about analytics cookies
When you first visit, the site asks whether it can use analytics cookies. Nothing from Google loads until you click Accept, and rejecting is just as easy. You can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings, at the foot of every page. If you switch analytics off, the site deletes its Google Analytics cookies straight away.
Your choice is remembered in your browser for twelve months, in local storage (an entry called mars-consent), so you aren’t asked on every page. That entry is strictly necessary for the choice to work, and holds nothing else.
Analytics cookies, only if you accept
If you accept, Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, records how the site is used: the pages viewed, how you arrived (from a search, for example), the type of device and browser, your approximate location (a town or region, worked out from your IP address, which Google Analytics does not store), and when an enquiry is sent. I use it to see which pages help people and which need work. It doesn’t tell me who you are, and I don’t use it for advertising.
| Cookie | Set by | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga |
Google Analytics | Tells one browser’s visits apart from another’s, using a random number | 2 years |
_ga_PT3NSDF9DW |
Google Analytics | Keeps track of the current visit | 2 years |
Google handles this data for me under its data processing terms. The detail of each visit is deleted after 14 months, leaving only totals, such as visits per page. Google explains its side in how Google uses information from sites that use its services (opens in a new tab).
Website statistics without cookies
This website also counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which works without cookies, local storage or anything else stored on your device, and without identifying you. It runs whatever you choose about analytics cookies.
Strictly necessary cookies
Cloudflare, which hosts and protects this website, may set the cookies below to keep the site secure. They are strictly necessary, are not used to track you, and the law allows them without consent.
| Cookie | Set by | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
__cf_bm |
Cloudflare | Tells people apart from automated traffic, to protect the site from bots | 30 minutes |
cf_clearance |
Cloudflare | Only set if you are asked to complete a security check, to remember that you passed it | Usually 30 minutes |
The fonts and images on this website are served from marswebsites.co.uk itself, so loading a page shares nothing with font or image services.
Other websites
When you follow a link to book a workshop on Eventbrite, or to another website, that site’s own cookie policy applies.
Managing cookies
You can change your choice about analytics cookies at any time with Cookie settings, at the foot of every page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the security cookies, you may occasionally be asked to confirm that you are not a robot.
